I am 48 years old and have 5 children. I have been a drug addict most of my life starting with heroin in the early 70s. I got off that in 1996 until my mother died in 1998 when I started using methamphetamine thinking it wasn't addictive. I was wrong! I was a single Mom and my children were always fed, clean, and had the best of everything. They never went without and I was selling drugs to support them and my habit. Maybe if I had some sort of help with schooling and rehab I would have made other choices. Surely I don't deserve a LIFE sentence for selling drugs to support my family.
