I was arrested on March 3, 1994, just three days before California’s Three Strikes Law went into effect, and was sentenced on September 19, 1995, to 26 years to LIFE for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. My prior strikes were in 1979, 1986, and 1990. All have been related to my addiction to cocaine. I had been in denial about this addiction but have, while in prison, participated in AA and NA classes. I am now clean, ready and fit to seek a drug free life with my four sons and loving wife. My sons need me and I feel, given the chance, I can now help guide them toward positive leadership positions in their communities. Surely 12 years is enough time to serve for my non-violent crime. |
