I was raised by my mother after my father was killed in an automobile accident when I was three. I went through school, married my high school sweetheart, and became a Certified Auto Technician. When I was 22 years old we had a son--my pride and joy. I worked hard to be a good father since I hardly remembered my own. Then, when my son was two, my wife and I experimented with cocaine at a social gathering of friends. I liked the feeling and soon became addicted and my life began a downward spiral. I started missing work, staying up all night, and finally committed several armed robberies to support my habit. I was caught and entered into a plea bargain to serve 8 years in prison. and received two strikes. I got a job as soon as I was released and went several years without drugs, but, without treatment, I began drifting back into drugs, but never into robbery again. One evening, being paranoid, I panicked when a police car tried to pull me over because of a missing license plate. That resulted in my third strike for felony evasion and a 25 year to LIFE sentence. |
