I have been in prison over 10 years serving a 25 year to LIFE sentence for a petty theft because the courts broke a plea bargain agreement for two 1993 burglaries after the Three Strikes Law went into effect in 1994.  After one mistrial in that case I was offered a 2 year “deal” and was told it would only count as one prior.  When this petty theft came to court they separated the burglaries and struck me out!  I have never belonged to a gang, used a weapon, or hurt anyone except myself--all because of a drug addiction and stealing to maintain my habit.  Since I have been in prison my mother passed away leaving my sister to deal with the loss alone.  I pray for the opportunity to make a real life for myself with a family of my own and the chance to make an honest living.
